Ministry of Environmental Protection website – The Ministry of Environmental Protection and the National Development and Reform Commission have issued the National Catalogue of Hazardous Wastes, which will come into effect on Aug. 1, 2008. The National Catalogue of Hazardous Wastes issued in HUANFA [1998] No.89 will be abolished simultaneously.

All solid and liquid wastes with one of the following properties will be listed in the catalogue:

(1) With one or more hazardous properties like corrosiveness, toxicity, inflammability, reaction or infectiousness;

(2) Hazardous properties of the wastes are not eliminated, which may cause negative impact to the environment or human health and should be managed as hazardous substances.
