Guangzhou Raises Minimum Wage by Rmb80 from April

The government of Guangzhou has earlier issued a circular on the upward adjustment of minimum wage for enterprise workers. With effect from 1 April, minimum wage for enterprise workers in Guangzhou (except Huadu and Panyu districts and the cities of Songhua and Zengcheng) is Rmb860/month, while minimum wage in Huadu, Panyu, Songhua and Zengcheng is Rmb770/month.

Guangzhou last adjusted its minimum wage on 1 September 2006. At that time, minimum wage for enterprise workers in Guangzhou (except Huadu, Panyu, Songhua and Zengcheng) was Rmb780/month. The present level of Rmb860/month means an increase of Rmb80. Minimum wage in Huadu, Panyu, Songhua and Zengcheng was Rmb690/month, and the new standard of Rmb770/month also represents a rise of Rmb80.

After the latest adjustment, minimum hourly wage in Guangzhou (except Huadu, Panyu, Songhua and Zengcheng) is Rmb4.94 while the minimum rate for part-time workers is Rmb8.3/hour. In Huadu, Panyu, Songhua and Zengcheng, minimum hourly wage is Rmb4.43 for enterprise workers and Rmb7.4 for part-time workers.
