The State Administration of Work Safety has set 2008 as the year for "Treatment of Latent Hazards" in production safety. Priority will be given to high-risk industries, major latent hazards, and major accidents. Exhaustive investigation will be conducted into production safety basic conditions, infrastructure, technical equipment and operating environment. Probing will extend further into potential problems in attitudes toward safety, working styles, company regulations, labor management, and worksite management. No form of "latent hazard" is to escape scrutiny in the all-out campaign aimed at effective prevention of serious safety accidents.
